Biography

Major Nicole Flanagan serves as Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and Operations Officer at Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps-Detachment 055, University of California, Los Angeles. Major Flanagan is responsible for leading, training, counseling, instructing, and evaluating highly qualified cadets as prospective Air Force officers.

Major Flanagan enlisted in the Air Force in Sept 2007, graduating from the Fire Protection Apprentice Course at Goodfellow Air Force Bsse, Texas, in March 2008. She then served as a firefighter at the 10th Air Base Wing, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. Later, she became a technical training instructor, attained the rank of technical sergeant, and graduated magna cum laude from Columbia State University, Ala., in 2014.

Commissioned as a through Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., in Dec. 2015, as a Force Support Officer, Major Flanagan’s first assignment was at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom, leading teams in Readiness and Plans, Food Operations, and as a Maintenance Section Commander. She then served as the sole Sexual Assault Response Coordinator at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. Following that, she was the Military Personnel Flight Commander, Installation Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, and Wing Executive Officer at Misawa Air Base, Japan. Returning stateside, she served as Sustainment Flight Commander at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Prior to her current position, she was the Director of Operations for the 412th Force Support Squadron.

In 2011, Major Flanagan deployed to Southwest Asia with the 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, and Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa. In 2017, she deployed to Royal Air Force Akrotiri, Cyprus, with the 1st Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron as the Mission Support Flight Commander in support of Project Olive Harvest.
