Biography

Lieutenant Colonel Mae-Li Allison is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 055, University of California, Los Angeles. She is the Department Chair and Professor of Aerospace Studies, leading a cadre of instructors and support staff that is responsible for the recruiting, educating, training, and commissioning of Air and Space Force officer candidates through a comprehensive college program.

Prior to her current assignment she was the public affairs director for the Combined Force Space Component Command, serving as the public affairs advisor for the commander of an organization with more than 17,000 joint and combined personnel with a mission to plan, integrate, conduct, and assess global space operations to deliver combat relevant space capabilities to combatant commanders, coalition partners, the joint force, and the nation.

Lt. Col. Allison has also served as the commander of the 369th Recruiting Squadron in Encino, Calif., and has led public affairs offices at multiple bases, including the LeMay Center Public Affairs at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis AFB, Nev., and the 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon AFB, N.M.

She graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a major in English Literature and a minor in Mandarin Chinese, and continued her education by earning two masters degrees. The first Master of Arts degree was in Political Affairs from the University of Oklahoma. Later, as part of the Air Force Institute of Technology civilian institution program, she graduated with honors with a MA degree in Communication Studies from the University of Nevada.
